Don't you think that this section deserves a nice update. Sorry, but I have been really busy lately and had few time to dedicate to the site. There are piles of CD's stacking up on my desk expecting a nice review, so don't worry, fresh stuff is on its way. Read below for a teaser.
Do you know where I spent last Tuesday evening? I was checking out Pennywise on their European tour stop in Antwerp, Belgium and had the opportunity to spend almost an hour with one of my favorite bands ever. Coming soon, the result of that hour long meeting with Jim and Randy in the Hof Ter Lo dressing room. The interview will be extensive and illustrated with a great lot of live pictures I shot there. Keep checking the site often. It will be available as soon as the taped material is transcribed and the pictures developed.
Still about Pennywise, Fletcher is not touring with the band. It is the first time Fletcher misses some of his band's shows and feels really bad about it. Well, the point is that Fletch likes beer a bit too much, got a fight with a close friend and ended up with a concussion. More detail about it in the forthcoming interview. Get well soon Flecth.
The interview section will see more updates soon are there are plans for at least three other great interviews with The Get Up Kids, Nerf Herder and Horace Pinker.
The new Nerf Herder album is titled "How to meet girls" and will be released on March the 6th. Don't miss it, as I consider it is the best release of the year so far. Soon reviewed in the Reviews section.
Some bad news from Revelation Records. Kill Holiday were supposed to be the next band interviewed in Sometimes. Well, Kill Holiday is not a band any longer. The indy-rock combo decided to go their separate ways as guitarist Chris Perreira, who recently got married, wanted to devote more time to his family and personal life and opted to quit the band a few days ago. Since KH was already without a bassist, the two remaining members decided to call it a day.
Their label mates Fastbreak also decided to break up. After being together for several years, they
simply decided that they wanted to pursue new projects and move on from Fastbreak.
Some good news from Revelation too: Gameface was in the studio last month and have now finished recording three amazing songs. Two new originals and a cover of Tom Petty's "Change Of Heart" will appear on a split CD/10" with Errortype:11. ET:11 have also contributed two new originals in addition to a cover of "I Got You" by Split Enz for the EP which is titled What's Up Bro? (out March 22). The first live audience to hear Gameface's new tunes will likely be in England when the band will be over there from March 29th 'til April 8th for a trip through the UK.
Garrison are now at Godcity Studios in Massachusetts recording their debut full length, "A Mile In Cold Water", for Revelation. If you want Garrison to come to your town email Courtney at Slip Productions (slipproductions@hotmail.com).
In My Eyes will eventually join Cro-Mags on their European tour. Check tour dates on Revelation.
There is a nice comp coming out soon on Fade Away Records. It's called "the Best comp in the World" and promises to be so as it features tracks by The Get Up Kids, Jejune, A New Found Glory, Errortype 11, Saves the Day, Reggie and the Full Effect, .....
Also, Sometimes now features a Guest Book, so please sign it know and comment your visit of the site. Thanks a lot.

First, let me wish a happy new year to everyone reading these lines. Sometimes is back in 2000 and there will soon be a brand new guest book where you'll be able to drop me a line about the zine. Hope you will make intensive use of that new tool.
As far as the Belgian concert agenda is concerned there are some bad news as I've just been told that both the Ataris/Vandals package and the Blink 182 gigs are cancelled. Reasons are still unknown to me but I hope new dates will be added soon.
Fortunately, the bill for Groezrock 2000 in Meerhout looks extremely interesting as already confirmed bands include: I against I, Down By Law, No Fun At All, de Heideroosjes, Liberator, Figure It Out, Delate and many more are still to be added.
Manolo from the Spanish fanzine Based On Respect is looking for support for the second issue of his zine, to be released in March/April. BOR#2 will feature interviews with In My Eyes, Boy Sets Fire, Grade, reviews, news... If you want to put an ad, send CDs or zines for review,... get in touch with him at respect666@airtel.net.

Visit www.osker.net to hear songs from Osker's new album 'Treatment 5' before it's out! Osker is a 3 piece from Los Angeles who signed to Epitaph about 2 years ago when their singer Devon was 16 years old. One drummer and 2 years later they finally have a full length album finished called 'Treatment 5' that's out February 8th.
Jeffries Fan Club, that excellent ska-punk-power-pop band signed to Vegas Records will be back in Europe in June 2000. More details as soon as I get some.
NOFX are in the studio recording their upcoming Epitaph release entitled "Pump Up The Valium".
They're recording it at Motor Studios in San Francisco with the mighty Ryan Greene at the helm...

Among others, Jughead's Revenge will tour Europe next year.
Well, the rumors are sad but true. Drummer Sean Sellers has officially left Good Riddance to pursue the rock and roll lifestyle in the sunny City of Angels. Taking over the Good Riddance drumming duties now is Dave Raun of Lagwagon and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes fame. That's a lot of pounding on the skins for one guy!
Propagandhi are set to record a new full length at Motor Studios in February. The CD will be released in late spring/early summer.
NOFX's official web site is now available at http://www.nofxofficialwebsite.com
Fat Wreck Chords has a radio station! It's located at fatfreeradio.net. It's got tons of songs by Fat Wreck Chords bands, but it's also chock full of other old and new school punk bands.
If you live in America or Europe, you can't possibly understand the frustration of walking into a record store and having to shell out upwards of $30 for one CD. This, however, has been the sad reality for Aussie music fans. At least until now. FAT has opened up an office in Australia to cut down the cost of FAT WRECK CD's. To write for a catalog, FAT Australia's address is:P.O. Box 2113, Fitzroy, VICTORIA 3065. You can also e-mail FAT AUSTRALIA at fatwreck@crucial.com.au

The new song which features a shocking vocals from Pennywise guitarist Fletcher Dragge is appropriately en-titled 'Christmas In Hell'. Pennywise will wrap up there US touring in December and then head on over to Australia for the 'Big Day Out'.
Hear a sample from Millencolin's new album 'Pennybridge Pioneers' by visiting their website Nov. 10th at www.burningheart.com/millencolin/news. The new album is out Feb. 22nd and is being hailed by those who have heard it as their best work to date. The new album was produced by Brett Gurewitz and recorded far from their home town of Orebro Sweden at the classic Epitaph studio Westbeach Recorders. Mock Orange are among the 5 finalists for New Breaking Artist at the Los Angeles Music Awards. Cross your fingers for that great Lobster Band.
The Get Up Kids had to cancel their one month long European tour for reasons they don't even know themselves and just played 6 shows in Europe. One of them was a gig at the Pop Komm in Cologne and was a total failure as they had not even been announced. Anyway, they'll come back this spring for a full tour of our dear continent.

To all of you in Belgium, the Satanic Surfers will be playing the VK in Molenbeek on the 30th of September with two support acts.
Fruit Cocktail, are a 3-piece from London, England and Ottawa, Canada, aged 18-20, and are currently working on their 5th album. They are about to release the "Fruit Cocktail vs. Hellcat" single which includes collaborations they recorded with various musicians associated with Tim Armstrong’s Hellcat
label. Tim Armstrong himself appears on one track, and there are also performances by Stephen Jackson (Pietasters), Duane Peters (U.S. Bombs), Greg Lee (Hepcat), Al Barr (Dropkick Murphys), Rolf Langsjoen (Stubborn All-Stars), Jon Natchez (Stubborn All-Stars).
Have been wondering what happened to Horace Pinker? Well, I found track of their bass player, Miguel Barron, who has put up a new band called Deminer. They have already released a first demo EP and plan to record a new 7" soon. As for the Pinkers, they sadly split up some time ago.
Pennywise will embark on their US tour on the 14th of October with no less that Strung Out as support act for all dates. And All (yes, the band) will join on some gigs. That what I call a nice bill.
"The Decline" is the title of a new 12" EP that will soon come out on Fat Wreck Chords. The band? NOFX.

Change of plans at Lobster Records where "The Mean Streets of Goleta", Staring Back's brilliant debut EP, which was supposed to be a press-only release, is now available to the public and will be fully distributed.

Saves The Day were in the studio between the 11th and 20th of June to record their second LP. Their labelmates Bane also entered the studio on the 5th of June, so two great new albums can be expected in the forthcoming weeks on Equal Vision Recordings. In November, both bands will embark on a one month-long European tour together with a third band still to be announced.
Watch out as November will see some of Fat Wreck's bands getting together to assault Europe. The announced tour will feature Tilt, No Use For A Name, Consumed, Mad Caddies and Strung Out, no less than that.
Shai Hulud are looking for a new drummer and a new vocalist. If you feel the right guy for the job, just send a demo to: Shai Hulud, P.O. Box 758822, Coral Springs, FL, 33075-8822. Most of the material for their new full length has already been written. So, once new members are secured, the songwriting process will wrap up and recording will begin immediately thereafter.
Some more releases on Revelation Records: Will Haven's "WHVN" comes out on September the 14th, Himsa's first full length, "Ground Breaking Ceremony," is due for release in late September. Later this fall is when In My Eyes and By a Thread will release their new album, respectively titled "Nothing to Hide" and "Last Of The Daydreams". 16/08/1999
Next releases planned on Revelation Records: Fastbreak "Whenever You're Ready" and Where Fear and Weapons Meets "The Weapon". Both albums will be available on August the 24th.

Epitaph presents really cool stuff on the web. For all of us who can't watch their TV program on Californian cable TV, the Epitaph show is available at www.punkorama.com. Jordan, who shared his drums between Pulley and Strung Out officially left the former to play full time with the latter. So Pulley is now looking for a new drummer. Do you feel interested? Anyway, the band is still on stand-by until the end of the baseball season as you all know that singer Scott Radinsky is a professional pitcher.

New band signed on Lobster Records, Staring Back will release their debut album sometime in November. Their labelmate Whippersnapper will be in the studio between the 23rd of August and the 2nd of September in order to record the follow-up to "America's Favorite Pastime". The album should be available in October. As for Buck Wild, they are just back from as successful European tour with Ten Foot Pole and wish they could come back soon.
Bodyjar went into the studio to record the song "Rio" that will appear on a Duran Duran tribute album. Could be funny here.
European punk masters No Fun At All plan to enter the studio in August to record their 4th album. For the fan who still are not aware, there's a mini live album available on Burning Heart. "Live in Tokyo" includes "Beachparty", "Your Feeble Mind", "I Won't Believe In You", "Believers", "Master Celebrator" and "Alcohol". The bass player Henrick Sunvisson called it quit so that Mikael Danielson moves to the four strings. A new guitarist joined the band. He comes from a trash band.
Samiam got into the studio in early May to record demos for 19 songs they will work on for the new album.

A new change for the better in the Pennywise release date as "Straight Forward" is now due out on June 1st. Just one month to wait and it will be in stores everywhere.
Jane's detd, the best Belgian melodic punk band around, have big problems with their label I Scream Records. They sold thousands of copies of their marvelous debut album (Bleenies and Blockheads) and only got BEF 12000 (about $ 350) while the label owner (a guy called Laurens) earned about one million BEF ( about 30000 bucks) by selling a lot of CD unofficially. So, you understand they wanna leave this robber as soon as possible, but Laurens claims two millions BEF (60000$) for their liberty. And know the guys are in debts and would like to warn you: "Never trust a hard core dude that drives a Mercedes". If you really don't appreciate what he has done to the band send the following message to one of the addresses below: "If you live this life to steal, you will come back to get stolen from. I, (write your name here), do no longer support I Scream Records!). Get in touch with him at: Broekstraat 10, 1730 Kobbegem, Belgium; 02 452 67 75 phone; 02 452 39 86 (fax) or e-mail at hardcore.rave.org/spikey/iscream.htm. Meanwhile, the band also change the spelling of the name to Janez detd

About Pennywise again: last week, alt.music.pennywise was given the thumbs up by the newsgroup people. Props go out to Andrew Malek for fighting a grueling battle to get it approved. It's evidently not on a lot of servers yet, but in a week or two it should be popping up all over the place. So keep on the lookout for it!
As you may know, Jim Cherry, who used to play bass with Strung Out, was fired from the band a few time ago (if you know the reason, please keep me informed) and substituted by Craig Ricker, formerly guitarist with Jughead's Revenge. Now it seems that Craig as already left the band to form a new act called Deadsy (album out in May) and has been replaced by a guy named Chris. Besides there are also rumors that Jordan (drums and who also plays for Pulley) has called it quit too because of the Jim affair. We'll see in the future if it's true or not.
Ensign's new LP titled "Cast the first stone" is out on Nitro Records. Check the label site for more info about it.
You all know that Pennywise's new album is coming soon, but if you really can't wait till the release then check their home page at www.pennywisdom.com. Go to the "in the studio" section and download MP3 for 3 new songs that will be on their new record. The songs are "My own country", "Straight" and "Greed". Have fun and blow up your ears.
A few words about our friends Whippersnapper. Ben Allington who used to play the guitar in the band decided to leave the band to go to college and become a pilot. Good luck with your studies. He's being replaced by Brandon Butler, formerly guitarist with a small emo-core band called Forty Seven Ronin. The band then had a six long week tour of the West-Coast with their labelmates Mock Orange and Buckwild and will be on the road until at least late May. They plan to record their new album in the late summer which would come out in the early Autumn. Hurry up guys, I'm dying for it. Check their tour dates at www.lobster.com.
Samiam are going to release three new tracks in a near future among which one will be a cover of the Pixies "Here comes your man" that will appear on a tribute album to the former Boston band. Another song will be contributed to another tribute album to the Stooges and the last will be featured on Fat Wreck comp including 30 seconds tracks of various bands.
Frenzal Rhomb's new album, A Man's not a Camel, is due for release in Australia (Shock) on April 12. America's (Fat Wreck Chords) release date is May 18. It's called It's up to you and was recorded in LA. This song will be on the new album. They Aussies also have two recent releases.
