Prevention - Repression - Adoption

Isn't there at least one point on which proponents and adversaries of abortion are in accord? Instead of repressing abortion, wouldn't it be better to prevent it? Don't legislators who liberalize abortion have a preventive role?
Is it necessary, then, to maintain a repression of abortion? Does adoption offer an "alternative" to abortion?
